What is Oracle Analytics Cloud?

Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) is a new platform that offers the most comprehensive analytics in the industry, powering your analytics strategy at any scale, in every environment – cloud, premises, desktop, and data center. From self-service visualization and data preparation to enterprise reporting and advanced analytics, to dynamic user-driven what-if modeling, to self-learning mobile analytics that provide proactive insights, OAC provides everything you need to ask any question of any data, on any device, at any time – so you can get the value you expect from analytics.

What services are included in Oracle Analytics Cloud?

OAC includes the following services:

• Oracle Data Visualization Cloud Service (DVCS)
• Oracle Business Intelligence Cloud Service (BICS)
• Oracle Essbase
• Oracle Smartview
• Oracle Day by Day

Are services sold individually or packaged?

OAC services are sold packaged in two editions, Standard and Enterprise:

• OAC Standard includes DVCS, Oracle Smartview, and Oracle Essbase Standard
• OAC Enterprise includes the services in the Standard edition and adds BICS, enterprise capabilities for Oracle Essbase, and Oracle Day by Day

How does OAC relate to other Business Analytics services?

OAC offers a customer-managed version of DVCS and BICS, as well as including Oracle Essbase, a new cloud service, and Oracle Day by Day, a new native mobile app.

If you use DVCS or BICS, you will find those services in OAC services to be almost exactly the same, but with additional functionality.

If you use Oracle Essbase on premises, you will find Oracle Essbase in the cloud to be similar but not identical, as the cloud solution is wholly new and includes features not available on premises.

Oracle Day by Day is a new native mobile application that leverages data in BICS together with machine learning to deliver proactive insights.

Can you use other Oracle-managed Analytics services if you use OAC?

OAC can be used as a standalone analytics solution or in parallel with other Oracle Analytics solutions. If you currently use DVCS or BICS, you may want to continue using those services and also use OAC, or you may want to consider moving your analytics entirely to OAC. Please contact your account manager to discuss the best options for your circumstances.

Are there any prerequisites?

Yes, running OAC also requires the following services:

• Any edition of Oracle Database Cloud Service
• Oracle Compute Cloud Service – Block Storage
• Oracle Storage Cloud Service
